Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and implementing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen rockets struck energy facilities, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.
